Ahakista Rowing Club Season 2007
A big thank you to all of our crews for all the hard work put in during the pre-season months, we can definitely see the improvements this year in the performance level with the Club successfully competing at five Regatta's, with eight crews competing at U-14, U-16, Minor, Junior and Senior levels in both Ladies and Men's. Our Minor Ladies team had a particularly successful year, winning their races in Kenmare and our home regatta in Ahakista and a second place in Dowras.
This year, with the help of the National Lottery, Sports Capital Partnership, local sponsorship and fund raising we have purchased three new boats, a French Yole quad, a double French Yole and a single French Yole and we are in the process of purchasing new rowing machines for our winter training programme. The new boats are of an international standard, which will allow the Ahakista Rowing Club to participate in other competitions throughout the country such as the Head of River Competitions, as well as international competitions in France and the Channel Islands.
Ahakista Rowing Club Committee would like to thank the Ahakista Community Association Ltd. for its continuing support and co-operation which helped to make this season our most successful to date and we look forward to many more years working together. The committee would also like to thank all of our Sponsors, volunteers who manned our safety boat during training and helped throughout the year, repairing boats, towing the Dunmanus Star to Regatta's, extending the storage unit etc. without all of your help the season would not have been so successful.
There are ambitious plans for the Club next season with the arrival of the new boats and we look forward to working with everybody again for next season.
